TPS65983B: Is there a dedicated USB Billboard device IC present? If so, is there any evaluation board associated with it?

Hello!

I am working on a design to implement a USB dongle, where I require a USB billboard device to detect any faults in alternate modes. Does TI manufacture any USB billboard device? I am aware of the

TPS65983B USB Type C-PDIC, but due to design constraints I will not be using it.

So are there any USB billboard device ICs I can use? does it come with an EVAL board to flash my firmware into it?

Any suggestions regarding them will be of great help!

    Hi Vasuki,

    Welcome to E2E! The TPS65983B is only used for Thunderbolt 3 reference designs by Intel. If you're not building a thunderbolt system, then the TPS65983B is NOT recommended. I would recommend the TPS65981.

    Also, we have tons of USB-C/PD resources available at  http://www.ti.com/product/TPS65981/technicaldocuments. Technical Reference Manual, GUI Customization Tool, etc.) You will be able to flash the firmware to our EVM boards using a standard project template or by customization one of the standard project templates. I hope this helps :-)
