TDP158: SSC support

Part Number: TDP158

Hi Team,

If TDP158 input signal is SSC(spectrum spread), can it work with that? The output is also SSC?

Thanks.

  • Hello Lilian

The device can receive this kind of signals but the output is TMDS.

  • Hi Francisco,

Could you please explain what's TMDS stands for? So the output signal is not SSC, and output signal frequency is fixed?
  • Hello Lilian

The TMDS (Transition-minimized differential signaling) technology uses the current drive to develop the low voltage differential signal at the sink side of the DC coupled transmission line. The TMDS is current mode logic and terminated to 3.3V the DC coupling is part of the specification.
In your first question, I understood that you want to use AC-coupled TMDS or DP++ signals with the spread-spectrum applied to the input signal (that this will be really hard to the sink to understand the data on the message, this technique is mainly focused only in clocks).
The redriver's output will be affected by the elements that you configure (like equalization, slew rate, pre-emphasis, etc.) and the spectrum will be affected, basically, you will have a filter where the main signal will through the device with a gain and other factors that you configure.
