TCA9539-Q1: State of the output pins during a brown-out event

Part Number: TCA9539-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA9539

Hi,

The TCA9539 device doesn't have it's own pull-ups on output pins, correct? What would be the state of the output pins if there's a brown-out event on the supply to this device?

  • Hey Anu,

"The TCA9539 device doesn't have it's own pull-ups on output pins, correct?"
-Yes, you are correct, this device does not have pull up resistors but rather FETs.

"What would be the state of the output pins if there's a brown-out event on the supply to this device?"
-Could you be more specific with what you mean by this? A quick search tells me a brown-out event is when the supply voltage drops but does not specify by how much and what the original voltage is supposed to be.

If you have pull up resistors tied from Vcc to the reset pin, it could accidentally result in a power cycle depending on how much this voltage drop is and how long.

    Thanks,
    -Bobby
