Hello,

I am working on a design that uses the DaVinci DM385 processor with the DP83867IRPAPT PHY chip and a RJ45 jack with integrated magnetics. The Camera Starter Kit for the DM388 uses a 12 core magjack for the Ethernet connection. Will an 8 core magjack work as well?

In support of Gabe's question, can TI also please post the latest transformer performance requirements (e.g., insertion loss @ specific frequencies)?

I would like to see the latest requirements in a table form that is similar to what is posted as characteristics / specifications in Pulse's datasheet for the HX5008NL. This is the transformer used on TI's SGMII EVM board.

And I second Gabe's request for any information regarding transformer topology / # of cores.

Hi Gabe,

Yes, a 8 core mag-jack will work with DP83867IR as long as it is rated for gigabit Ethernet communication. Please refer to the magnetics requirement listed in this app note: www.ti.com/.../snla079d.pdf and verify that the selected mag-jack meets the requirements.
