TCA9517: 1.8V B-side operation

Part Number: TCA9517

Hello ,

is it possible to operate the B-side using 2.5V supply (we need to I2C voltage convertion from 2.5V to 1.8V) ?

thanks

Shay

  • Hey Shay,

Are you asking if it is okay for B side to be 2.5V and A side to be 1.8V?

If so, the A side is okay but the B side looks like it is slightly outside the recommended range. The recommended voltages we state are there to specify if you are within the recommended then the device will follow the datasheet specs.Being outside this range means the device will not longer be guaranteed to work as stated by the datasheet.

With that being said, I suspect the device could work but may affect parameters such as propagation delays, VoL, ViL and such. The recommended value is likely due to Vth values in the FETs, used to create the device, which means lower gate voltages will result in higher drain to source impedance and will affect the device's over all performance and the digital logic inside.

I would try to stay within the recommended values if possible.

    Thanks,
