DS100BR210: Cascading configuration issue

Part Number: DS100BR210

Hi team,

My customer met an issue when cascading 2 DS100BR210. Here's the detail configuration.

1st DS100BR210 is used in TP1A point (eq 14.5dB,DEM 0x80,VOD 0xa5).

Then connecing with an interconnect cable (16~18dB),

Final point is the 2nd DS100BR210 in TP4A point. (eq 3.7dB,DEM 0x82,VOD 0xa5)

Monitoring the signal integrity in TP1A, the eye diagram is still good.

But monitoring the signal integrity in TP4A, the eye diagram is bad, becoming two eyes.

Do you have any recommendation to solve the issue?

Thanks!

  • Hi Luke,

    Thanks for the waveforms.  I would make the following recommendations.

    DS100BR210 #1

    EQ = 00, VOD = A5, DEM = 80  (Minimum EQ and DEM)

    DS100BR210 #2

    EQ = 07, VOD = A5, DEM = 81 (14 dB EQ, -1.5 dB DEM)

    For the Tx ASIC settings I would try the following 3 settings to see which one works best.

    Main = 63, post = 0

    Main = 57, post = 6

    Main = 51, post = 12

    Regards,

    Lee

  • Hi Lee,
    Sorry for providing the wrong information. Actually your recommended settings is already the settings customer is using.
    In my previous thread, two optical modules' configuration information should be swapped.
    Do you have other recommendation on optimizing the eye diagram?
    Thanks!
  • Hi Luke,

    I would try to reduce the #2 BR210 EQ = 03'h and the DEM = 80'h to see if this can improve the waveforms.

    It would be helpful to also see the waveform on the output of BR210 #1.

    Regards,

    Lee
