SN65HVD232: CAN Bus Transceivers Issue

Part Number: SN65HVD232
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28069

Dear TI,

Currently, we use TMS320F28069 to connect as follows.

Problem Phenomenon (Waveform is good when measuring waveform at CPU stage / 120 ohm resistor setting for termination resistance)
1. Communication was established at 1:1.
2. When 1:4 is selected, one of the four motors does not rotate. Not all boards rotate.
3. When it was 1:4, there was and sometimes was not.

-> If the CAN waveform looks normal but it is not communicating, what is the problem?
-> And I checked that the waveforms are coming out well, but I do not have any peaks or noises. How do you determine that the hardware is normal because it seems to be misleading?

  • Hi Han,

thanks for using E2E. I try to understand your problem but I miss the big picture of your application.
What you are saying is that in your application:
    - when using 1 transceiver to 1 motor, everything works fine.
    - when using 1 transceiver to drive 4 motors, none of them works or just one of them doesn't work?

I would also really appreciate if you could show the waveform from the transceiver when you try to communicate, specifically showing the signals for CANH, CANL, R, D. It looks very deceptive to me that the transceiver works fine but it's not communicating properly, so I need to investigate more on what's happening.

Have you tried changing the transceiver with a different one?

Please let me know if you could provide some more info like waveform and how you're trying to implement your system, so that I can have a better idea on this.

    Thank you and best regards,
    Adrian
  • Hi Han,

I just wanted to check in on this. Were you able to resolve your issues? If not, were you able to look into any of Adrian's suggestions? If there is any other help we can provide please just let us know.
