TUSB9261DEMO: The debug messages from serial port are not readable

Hi,

The debug messages from the TUSB9261DEMO serial port are not readable. The RS232 parameters are:

- Baud rate: 115,200

- 8-bit data (tried 7-bit too)

- 1 stop bit

- No parity

- No flow control

Are they correct? If they are right, what could be wrong?

Firmware version is v1.05.

Hello Amy,

The configuration looks correct, how are you connecting the serial port? also what software are you using to view it? we normally use Teraterm,coudl you please try using it?

Hi Roberto,

I used SeaLevel's USB to RS232 converter to connect to the demo board's serial port. SeaLevel provides a software WinSSD with which I can see data from the serial port. The software contains required driver. After installation, in Device Manager it shows "SeaLINK+232 USB to RS-232 Converter (COM3)".

I tried to use PuTTY to open serial port COM3 (as indicated in Device Manager), but the serial port won't open. I can try Teraterm to see what happens.

Hi Roberto,

I found a computer that has serial ports and connected it to the TUSB9261Demo serial port. The debug messages are still not readable. The demo board that I have is PVP PG2.x REV B. Could it have different RS232 settings?

Hi Amy,
Please reference the TUSB9261 datasheet. TUSB9261has 3.3V TTL serial output. You need a RS-232 line driver such as MAX3221 if you want RS232 I/O. Otherwise, you can use a USB to 3.3V TTL serial adapter: For example: www.sparkfun.com/.../9873
