DP83822H: DP83822H BIST Loopback Test

Do we have a script that can be used to run a BIST self-test for the DP83822H? Can you share the script with me so that I can send it to a customer? I have read the data sheet, but I am not sure of the exact process of setting the resisters properly. Is there a different script to use to test with a cable?

Hi Richard,

Set register 0x16 = 0xf004

Continuously read register 0x16 and look for bit[11] = 1. If bit[11] = 1, then PRBS is locked and DP83822 is passing packets successfully.

Read register 0x1B for any errored bytes as counted in bit field bit[15:8]

Rob,

The customer is still having an issue.

He states that when he sets register 0x16 = 0xF004 he never sees bit [11] =1. He stated that he did not se bit[11] or bit [12] change at all.

This seems to indicate to me that the loop-back is not locked, but I am not sure.

Can you comments on this and offer some further advice?

Hi Richard,

Yes it would indicate the loopback and PRBS is not locking.

Does the customer get an error count in register 0x1B?

Also try setting register 0x16 = 0xf002. Then read register 0x1 multiple times for a link status.

If there is no link with the digital loopback using 0xf002, then I'd check out the RBIAS resistor value and the reference clock, as well as strapping.
