TUSB8041: Test packet generation for USB compliance testing

Part Number: TUSB8041

Is it possible for TUSB8041 to generate test packets for compliance testing?  Datasheet does not mention anything about this, but is there a mode or secret registers that can be used for this?

thanks.

  • Hi Jatan,

All USB hosts, hubs and devices can generate test packets as required by the USB specification.  You will need to download the XHCI HSETT tools from usb.org to generate the commands that force the hub to start generating the test packets.

  • Thanks for quick response! Does this require I2C access to the hub or does this need to be run in channel over the upstream port?
  • This is all done using USB commands that are generated by the USB host. There is no need to use I2C. You will need to connect the upstream port of the hub to the host and the host will enable the downstream ports of the hub to generate test packets.
