DP83848Q-Q1: Clock out precision

Dear All,

my AA is using the DP83848Q-Q1 in a project which requires a +/-30ppm at CLK_OUT. For this reason the designer is using a a Crystal (connected to X1) with +/-30ppm of accuracy.

In the datasheet we say that connecting a Crystal with +/-50ppm of accuracy it is possible to have a Clock_out with accuracy +/-50ppm (max).

Does it mean that the DP83848 does not add any extra noise ?

Is the customer's assumption correct ?

Hello Domenyko,

The PHY's output clock ppm is not a part of datasheet measurement so it will be difficult to quantify the ppm variation introduced by the PHY. What has been verified is that the 25MHz clock out can be used to to clock other devices like connecting another DP83848Q-Q1 in a daisy chain condition. So the ppm variation by the PHY would be small.
