TCA9517A: How about output state when output open without load?

Part Number: TCA9517A

Hi Team,

How about TCA9517A output state when output open without load(floating)?
If customer keep open/float(without load) in output channel, how about output state?
Does output state keep low even if input existing?
Thank you.

Best Regards,
Jade

  • Hi Jade,

When you say there is no load on the output, do you mean that there is not even a pull-up resistor? In that case I would not expect the output to be high. It would either be driven low (when the corresponding input is low) or high impedance (when the corresponding input is high). In the high impedance state, the voltage at the pin would most likely be close to ground due to leakage currents (the TCA9517A itself has up to 10 uA of leakage on the output pins).

    Regards,
