TPS2553D: About SOA of FET inside device

Part Number: TPS2553D

Hi,

I am checking the operation of the circuit using TPS2553D device.
Among them, a large rush current occurs when the USB power bus HDD is connected.
See attached figure.
Looking at the data sheet in Figure16, I think that this rush current is possible.
However, I do not know whether the heat generation of the FET inside the device is satisfactory.
When the rush current flows, is the SOA of the FET inside the device OK?

Best regards,

  • Hi,

Just as your description, the rush current is normal. Don't worry about heat. We have validated this short to ground function before part is release to market. Also, there's no heat issue from customer about TPS2553D.

If you have any special application or case, feel free to ask.

    Regards,
    Bob
