How can I transmit 30 m with LVDS?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS25BR440, DS92LV0421

Hi expert.

How can I transmit 30 m with LVDS?

My customer request for transmit 30 m with LVDS.

I think they can realize hope if they use DS25BR440.

But they are not satisfied because of LVDS:Clock=4:1, so I'm looking for a better way.

Please tell me best way.

----Specification----

・FPGA to LCD

・(LVDS:Clock=4:1)*2unit

・Signal : Video

・Data rate : 600Mbps

・Cable : Transmit 30 m

  • Hi Taka-san,

I have some additional questions to help us understand this application:

    1. Can you draw out a block diagram of this setup so we have a better understanding of the need case?

    2. If you are using an FPGA to LCD application, what is the data format output from the FPGA and the format expected by the LCD? Is it OpenLDI (4 LVDS data + 1 clock) or 24-bit LVCMOS (RGB-888 with HSYNC, VSYNC, and DE in parallel)? Also, is the format single-pixel or dual-pixel?

    3. What is the clock rate? I am not sure if 600 Mbps is the combined data rate of all the LVDS data or if this is the actual clock frequency.

    4. Does the customer have a requirement for the cable type? For example, does it need to be a ribbon cable, or will a coax cable work?

I am currently thinking that it may be best to use a SerDes approach (for example, DS92LV0421/0422) to enable transmission over a cable, but we will need more information to proceed.

    Thanks,

    Michael
