TCAN1043-Q1: Question about state diagram

Part Number: TCAN1043-Q1

Hi team,

Could you support below questions from my customer?

Initial state: Vsup=OFF, Vcc=OFF

Step1: Supply Vsup > Vsup_UV, and Vcc is kept OFF

Step2: Wait for more than tUV

Q.1) Does device shift to Sleep Mode with above scenario?

Q.2) If yes, which rout will the device pass?

Device directly shifts from Standby to Sleep mode by Vcc_UV detection?

Q.3) Is there any indication that device is staying in Sleep mode with above scenario?

Best regards,

Nobuo Fujihara

  • Fujihara-san,

    1) Yes, the device will shift into sleep mode after the above scenario has happened.

    2) The device goes into standby, then go-to-sleep mode, then sleep mode.

    3) I'm not sure I understand the question. Does the device stay in sleep mode if the above situation doesn't change? Yes, it will remain in sleep mode unless a wake up request is received or the UV condition is released.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

  • Hi Eric-san,

Thanks a lot for your answer.

I have additional question for Q.2).
According to Figure 21, to move to “Go-to-Sleep mode” from “Standby Mode”, EN has to be toggled to High.
So can I think as following:
    - If EN is kept Low : Device directly move to “Sleep mode” from “Standby Mode”
    - If EN is toggled to High : Device move to “Go-to-Sleep mode” from “Standby Mode”, then move to “Sleep mode”.

Regarding to Q.3, I apologize for unclear question.
Here customer wants to identify in which mode device is staying.
But according to Table 1, it says there is no INDICATORS when device detects Under voltage.
So can I think there is no indicator for Sleep mode transition from Standby-mode, with the given scenario?.

    Best regards,
    Nobuo
  • Fujihara-san,

Q2: Regardless of if EN is H or L, the device will start-up in Standby mode, then transition to Sleep mode after ~300ms. This is the timer associated with UV detection on this device. No matter what, the device is going to start up in STANDBY, and then transition to the next state based on it's current conditions. If it starts up with an undervoltgae condition, the ~300ms timer immediately starts, and the device transitions into Sleep mode after this.

Q3: There is no specific external indicator when the device detects undervoltage. The customer can however monitor the INH pin, and this will show when the device goes from Normal or Standby to Sleep mode. Unfortunately, the customer can't assume that any transition into Sleep mode implies an undervoltage event.

Please let me know if you have any more questions or concerns.

  • Hi Eric-san,

    Thanks for your answer,
I understood that customer can monitor whether device is in Sleep mode by adding pull-down resister onto INH pin.
