Hi team,

I want to check how to get the TCAN FD function with the device TCAN1042HG? What's the difference between the normal function and FD mode for the MCU side about the software? Thanks.

    Hi Frank,

    FD support in the case of this transceiver device simply means that the normal mode of operation is capable of supporting higher data rates, and the timing specifications are aligned with the ISO 11898-2 standard's requirements for bit timing at 2 Mbps and 5 Mbps. On the MCU side, though, the CAN controller used needs to support CAN FD, meaning it can tolerate the FD frame (with longer data payload, etc.) and is capable of bit rate switching (operating at classical CAN rates during the arbitration phase and then at faster data rates during the data phase).
