DS90UB953-Q1: FPD-LinkIII bit rate

Part Number: DS90UB953-Q1

Dear support team;

I want to calculate the FPD-LinkIII bit rate.

For example, the flame rate is 60fps and 1470x556 size

60fps * 1470 * 556 * 40bit/frame(FPD-LinkIII) = 1.96Gbps

Is it correct?

On data sheet(P.17 7.3.2.1 Frame Format), the following discription.

"The DS90UB953-Q1 formats the data into 40-bit long frames."

Best Regards,

 Masaaki Sugiyama

  • Sugiyama-san,

    It depends on what your blanking period and bits per pixel is.

    The general formula for calculating the CSI-2 throughput is:

    Total data rate = [# active horizontal pixels + horizontal blanking] x [# active vertical lines + vertical blanking] x [frame rate] x [# bits/pixel]

    To calculate the FPD-Link rate you take the data rate above and multiple by 40/32 (to account for the 40-bit frames and some additional FPD-Link overhead).
