DS90UB954-Q1: Maximal data Throughput FPD-LINK

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB953-Q1

Dear support team,

we want to transfer several 4k video streams over 5 meters with DS90UB953-Q1 and DS90UB954-Q1

DS90UB953-Q1: 4.16 Gbps serializer with 4 x 832Mbps input CSI-Lanes

DS90UB954-Q1: 4.16Gbps deserializer (in CSI-2 mode) with 4 x 1.6 Gbps output CSI-Lanes

With our calculation the data rates should be sufficient to transfer 8MP/30fps video stream. Could you please tell us where the bottleneck is? Or why you refer to the chips as maximal 4MP/30fps?

Calculation: 3264 pixel * 2448 pixel * 30 fps * 10 bit/pixel * 40/32 (FPD LINK) = 3 Gbps

Thank you.

Best regards,

Alexey

  • Hello,
If you have already included any blanking period in the horizontal and vertical pixels, your calculation for the FPD-Link rate looks correct.
The max CSI-2 rate supported for 953/954 is 1.6 Gbps/lane and as you said it is not just the MP number but it really depends on factors such as fps, resolution etc.
