TPL7407L: TPL7047L vs LA

Part Number: TPL7407L

What is the difference between TPL7047L and TPL7047LA?

I see the Voltage difference of 40V vs 30V.

Are there other differences?

  • Hi Hithesh,

The major difference between the two devices is the ability of OUT7 to drive an inductive load. In the L version, OUT7 needs an external diode for driving this type of load, but for the LA version this diode is not needed.

  • I also found COM Voltage min is 8.5V for the L and 6.5V for the LA.

Question: can the loads be powered off of 3.3V like below.

Is there a minimum Voltage for the load?

Also, the Vin logic level high min is 1.5V. But datasheet mentions it's compatible with 1.8V logic level?

  • Hi Hithesh,

You are correct, the COM voltage min has reduced as well, and this has also changed the VOL specs for the LA version.

3.3V will work here. As long as the OUT voltage is lower than the COM voltage then there should be no problems.

1.5V is the threshold where the channel is guaranteed to be ON (pulled low). Therefore, even if a 1.8V GPIO rail has +/-15% tolerance, the 1.5V threshold will work. If a 1.5V GPIO voltage is used, the variation may bring this below the 1.5V threshold.

    Thanks,
