Dear all,

For TPS65982, customer want to know how to burn the PD FW to the flash.

The Flash they used is very small due to limited space, it is hard to connect wire to burn;

I heard we can provide some tools to burn the PD FW, could you please help share the tools and some documents to assist burn the PD FW to flash.

Hi John,

Do you have the FTDI board that comes with our TPS65981-EVM? If not, I would recommend ordering one for your customer. The TPS65982 needs to load a valid configuration from the flash for initial bringup. To do this, you must have access to the SPI lines and connect them to our FTDI board or to an Aardvark.

Once you have a valid configuration on the TPS65982, you can enable USB EP which would allow you to update the firmware over the type-c port once the device is already in the field. However, this function will only work once there is already a valid configuration in the SPI Flash.

Hi John,

The FTDI is included as a breakoff board with the TPS65981EVM. If you order the TPS65981EVM, the FTDI will be included.
