TPS2141: Disable LDO?

Part Number: TPS2141
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2001D, TPS2065D, TPS2553, TPS2552, TPS2069D, TPS2069

Hi team,

Question about the TPS2141 LDO functionality. Since the LDO has a separate enable line, can I disable the LDO and use the switch separately? Should the LDO pins be tied to GND?

Also, do you have any other recommendations for load switches similar to the TPS2141 without the LDO? I was looking at the TPS2001D and TPS2065D, are these good recommendations?

Thanks for the help,

Arthur

  • Hi, Arthur,

Sorry that I am not sure about behavior if TPS2141, because TPS2141 is not product of our product line. I suggest you open another thread for TPS2141, so that it will be assigned to engineer of that product line.

As far as power switch, there are many different kinds of power switch of our product line.
    1. TPS20XX, constant limited current power switch(like TPS2001D and TPS2065D).
    2. TPS255X, adjustable limited current power switch(like TPS2553, TPS2552).
    3. ...
All these part have short to Ground protection, and other function. Pleaser refer to datasheet for detailed information.

If you have detailed requirement, you can tell me and I will try to find a part that suitable for you.

    Regards,
    Bob
  • Hi Bob,

Thanks for the reply. Do you know which product line this device falls under? When I look in SBE-Lookup on ESP, it says this device falls under Power Interfaces.

Thanks for the recommendations, I will let you know if the customer has more detailed requirements.

    Thanks,
    Arthur
  • Hi, Arthur,

I am sorry, I just know this part is under our product line. This part was merged from other group and it's first time we got question about this part, hope you can understand. I will reply your question later.

    Thanks,
    Bob
  • Hi, Arthur,

You are correct. If you just want to use the switch of TPS2141, please disable LDO by connecting LDO_EN to GND and enable switch by connecting SW_EN to GND.

Here's a helpful select guide for USB power switch and charging controller. Hope it's useful for you. If you can't access the link, please leave your email here, I can sent this select guide to you. www.ti.com/.../slyt509e.pdf

From my understanding, TPS2069D should be close to TPS2141. Current limit: 1.3A for 2141, 1.5A for 2069D; both got output discharge, UVLO and thermal shutdown. TPS2069 also got soft start and fault signal corresponding to low current limit mode and SW_PG in 2141. For detailed information please refer to the select guide and datasheet.

Our product line has many kinds of power switch, especially for USB application, hope you can find one that meet your requirement.

    Feel free in any questions.

    Regards,
    Bob
