DP83849IF: DP83849IF - error handling

Part Number: DP83849IF

Hello Team,

We are currently supporting a project based on DP83849IF.

The DP83849IF is used with ETH on one side and an optical link on the other.

A second unit receives the optical signal and  converts it again to standard ETH.

During the communication there are observed sporadic errors among which the most have the following values: 0x05 and 0x55.

To further evaluate the root cause of the erroneous ethernet frames we would like to understand how DP83849IF handles errors on the physical layers,  especially, what happens if a bit error on the optical side of our transmission system results in an invalid 5Bit code group. DP83849IF datasheet specifies the following 4B5B code groups, how does DP83849IF maps control or invalid codes, chip configured for media conversion, from one port (port A)  to the other (port B).

Thanks,

SunSet
