TUSB7340: USB Forum

Part Number: TUSB7340

Hi Sir,

We have a yellow bang out issue on the TUSB7340 controller with Intel Coffee Lake.

There is a PCIe to USB card which design with TUSB7340, but we only used to connect to USB2.0 connector.

P.S. This PCIe to USB card has used several platform before Coffee Lake, and no issue.

FAIL symptom:

Let system go into S4 or S5, check the monitor is off. Install the USB device then press Power button to start system, it will spend long time in OS loading and found USB KB/or MS not responding, and a yellow bang about "Texas Instruments USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller-0.96(Microsoft)" showing up in Device Manager. To recover that, you should unplugging the USB KB/or MS and then restarting the system and plugging it back after system wake up.

May I know do you ever face this issue before?

Please kindly give us some advice.

Thank you.

  • Hi Edward,

Does this failure only occur if you boot with a device attached? If so, I’d suspect that the BIOS may be loading its own xHCI driver that has a compatibility issue with the TI host causing it to get hung. The hang is likely causing the long OS load time and the yellow bang.

We haven’t heard of this failure before. I suspect it’s related to the BIOS driver and not related to the chipset itself. My suggestion would be to have your BIOS driver vendor review the TI host controller errata on ti.com to make sure their SW has the required workarounds.

    Regards,
