    The SN65C1168E is guaranteed to operate in accordance with the TIA/EIA-422-B  standard. The figure below provides a general to to cable length vs speed that the RS 422 devices can handle. The device can output a a recommended maximum of 20mA and -20mA on the bus lines. The maximum number of nodes being driven has to comply with these current thresholds.
