TUSB3410: TUSB3410 with VB6 - Error 8020

Hello,

I have an old VB6 aplication running with several usb to RS232 converters. I have to replace ine of them and for that I have chosen TUSB3410. The issue is that error 8020 (error Reading the port with mscomm) is produced when the port of TUSB3410 is receiveing any caracter.

With other converters this doesn't happen. Operative system in computer is Win7+sp1 32bit.

Do you have any solution for this?

I am connecting terminal 1 and 2 (of terminal block) to the RS485 conecction of the other side.

I think conection is correct because with Hypermterminal It works fine. Problem is reading from VB6.

Hello Enrique,

Since you can see the correct transmission in other software like Hyperterminal, it seems the problem is in the VB8 side not in the TUSB3410.

Additionally, if you are using RS485 communication, you'll require a different firmware for the TUSB3410 since the default firmware is RS232, I'm sending this firmware to you through e-mail.

Roberto, the problem could be in the VBB side but it does not apperar if I use converters from other manufacturers.

Regarding the firmware I relied you email whith some questions.

There are two files in the zip, umpe3410 and umpf3410, which one must I use?

And in the EEPROM Burner there is a configurable field about EEPROM Size. Which value must I adjust?

Hello Enrique,

You must burn the umpe3410 file in the EEPROM.

In the EEPROM burner the EEPROM size filed you must choose the size of the EEPROM that you are using.

Hello Enrique,

Please note this EEPROM is the one that you choose for your TUBS3410 design so we can know hat size were choosed. If the design don't have an extrenal EEPROM you'll need to add it.
