TPS65981: External USB3.0 Mux control

Part Number: TPS65981
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HD3SS3212

Hi,

We are Using TPS65981 in one of our design,
As per our design, we have used HD3SS3212 external MUX IC for USB3.0 signals. SEL & OEN pin of HD3SS3212 IC is connected to debug1 & GPIO3 pin respectively of TPS65981 IC(Attached Image for Reference). we have few queries, request to support for the same.

1)Please let us know the default state of debug1 pin(Pin 2).
2)Also, let us know whether the debug1 pin is software configurable.
3)Can we swap PORT B & PORT C signals of HD3SS3212 IC for layout routing ease?

Regards,
Gireesh

  • Hi Gireesh,

1)Please let us know the default state of debug1 pin(Pin 2).

The default state of debug1 (GPIO15) is Hi-Z.

2)Also, let us know whether the debug1 pin is software configurable.

This pin is configurable through the application customization tool that is found in the Tools and Software tab of the TPS65981 product page.

3)Can we swap PORT B & PORT C signals of HD3SS3212 IC for layout routing ease?

We do not support inverting GPIO events to support this. You could probably achieve this with an external inverter. We send the GPIO signal to flip the mux correctly, if the connector is flipped one way and the data lines are attached to the opposite orientation, the mux would not be configured correctly.
