10BASE-T vs 100BASE-T Current Consumption

Hi Team,

My customer has a quick question about 10BASE-T vs 100BASE-TX current consumption. She noticed that 10BaseT draws more current than 100BaseTX across all PHYs and was curious what the reason was and this behavior should be expected?

Hi Jaime,

This is expected as the output driver swing is much greater on 10base-t and 10base-te. 10base-t and 10base-te also has a much greater cable reach.
