question about IIC Repeater

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA9617B, TCA9517

Dear TI,

There is a unit performing EEPROM R/W between B/D by using cable which is about 3M or more in IIC communication protocol as below.

During the R/W test, I am debugging due to a Read Fail or Write Fail failure, but I have not found a solution yet.
I would like to add a repeater between the back of the IIC Switch and the front of the EEPROM
Could you recommend if TI have proper product?

thanks,

TS

  • Hey TS,

What speed are you operating at? If 400kHz is max I would recommend TCA9517 but if 1MHz then I would go with TCA9617b. You should enable device after you know both sides are in an idle state.

My suggestions are assuming the capacitance between the two boards do not exceed 400pF for 400kHz and 550pF for 1MHz.

    Thanks,

    -Bobby
