TUSB544: Unable to identify usb3.0.

Part Number: TUSB544
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65LVPE512, TUSB522P

Hello!I use this IC of TUSB544I as the USB3.0 Redriver to realize the Redriver function of the two USB3.0, and the specific lines are attached.

Test method: using the OK USB3.0 usb drive (which works normally on Dell desktop), the usb flash disk cannot be identified;Use USB2.0 usb flash drive to catch usb flash drive.

Configuration: I2C_EN/dir1-name/DIR0 / CTL1 / CTL0 / FLIP = 011110.

Please help to analyze it, thank you!

  • Smith,

For what you have posted it seems that TUSB544 is on the source side of this application, is this correct? If so you need to use a slightly different configuration called, One Port USB 3.1 + 2 Channel Custom Alt Mode- No Flip " in Table 2 of the datasheet. Are you using the two downstream USB ports in your schematic for USB traffic only?
  • Smith,

To add to Malik's reply, the TUSB544 is intended to use with a Type-C application, so there can only be one USB port enabled at a single time with this device to support the connector FLIP capability in Type-C.  As noted, using the different mode in this application will enable USB but only on one port (Decided by the FLIP input pin).  It appears your application is using two Type-A ports, the best devices for your application would be the TUSB522P or the SN65LVPE512.  There would need to be one re-driver for each port.
