SN75LVCP600S: Can not recognize SATA Hard Drive every time

Hi Team,

My customer is using SN75LVCP600S for redriver function, but after many times test, it can not recognize the SATA hard drive every time, and if I short the wire without redriver, it didn't have any of this issue.

I'm wondering do we have prefer setting for this device?

Customer setting: MODE: 0; DE: 0; EQ: 0; SQ_TH: 0;

Hi Randy,

When a SATA/SAS drive is not recognized, the problem is most often OOB signaling distortion. Set the MODE = 1. This change will decrease the signal detect sensitivity which should help to re-transmit the OOB signals.

Mode=1 is setting SAS mode, did this decrease the signal sensitivity? thanks.

Hi Randy,

Using Mode=1 decreases the signal detect sensitivity. This helps to re-transmit OOB without distortion when some noise or offset voltage is present on the LVCP600S input.

I tried to set MODE=1, but it's still the same, can not recognize some hard drive.

Hi Randy,

There are no other controls on the SN75LVCP600S to modify our response. Can you measure what the OOB signals look like going into and out of the repeater when a drive is not detected?
