TPS65982: LDO_3V3 external load(3.3V/150mA@5Vin)

Hi expert,

My customer is asking for LDO_3V3 capability. It said on datasheet that it cannot support up to 25mA external load but there is no test condition in this case. Is this test result on 20Vin condition and only included pull up resistor and EEPROM? My customer is wondering if they can use this LDO for external load (3.3V/150mA@5Vin). Could we have your help on this case? Thanks a lot!!

    Hi Ann,

    Unfortunately, the maximum current for external load is 30mA; we don’t recommend any external load drawing more than 30mA because the EC table in the datasheet cannot be guaranteed if the external load exceeds the maximum current.

    Hi Ann,

    I have talked with our team and 30mA is the maximum current drawn by external loads under all conditions in VBUS.  Unfortunately, we cannot add a test condition on the datasheet. I highly recommend that you draw less than 30mA on LDO_3V3 in order to guarantee all specs in the datasheet.
