TUSB4041I: TUSB4041 standby power and transmission speed

Part Number: TUSB4041I

Dear all,

For TUSB4041i, following questions want to confirm with you:

1) If there is no data transmission, and TUSB4041I is in  standby mode, so what the power consumption would be like?

2) Since it can support 4 ports, can the four ports can support high speed transmission(480Mbps) simultaneously? if not, what is the max transmission rate can TUSB4041I support at the same time for the four ports?

Thanks.

  • The power consumption for the TUSB4041I will be 2.3mA*3.3V + 28 mA*1.1V = 38.39 mW.
The hub can support up to 480 Mbps to the host. The hub switches which downstream device receives that 480 Mbps bandwidth, so if there 3 devices attached to the hub the hub will give each downstream device full bandwidth 1/3rd of the time.
  • Hi Michael,

For the 28mA of 1.1V, it seems large, so for this consumption, is there any way to reduce it?
Besides, if four devices is used, since only 1/4 time for each ports, the equivalent speed for each port is 480Mbps/4, am I right?
In this application, customer want to confirm that if one port is connected to device such as scanner, the other port is connected to adapter, can the host be charged through the adaptor and at the same time the host transmit data to scanner device ?
In the datasheet, it shows the hub can support downstream charging, I want to confirm if it can be charger from port to the host?

    Thanks.

That is the lowest power setting for the device.

    Yes, you are correct.

Can you give me a block diagram of what you are trying to do?

  • Hi Michael,

The block diagram is just like below:

there is one host and four downstream devices, if one of them is attached to adaptor, can the Host be charged by the adaptor while the other device  can transmit data from host simultaneously? if yes, how can it be implemented?

  • The TUSB4041I supports CDP(power from host to device) can DCP(power from hub to device) but does not support a way for power to flow from the device to the host.
