TCA9617B: Can we connect the I2C master to VCCB side and Slave to VCCA side?

I have a design where in my I2C master is at 3.3V and I2C slave is it 2.5V, I am looking for a suitable Level translator.

When i looked at a few Repeaters/Translators' i see most of the application examples shown in the datasheet are of the type "master is at Lower voltage side" and "Slave is at higher voltage side",--does this mean i can't use these kind of devices in my application?

For Example in TCA9617B device,

Can i connect the master to VCCA side at 3.3V and Slave to VCCB side at 2.5V?

Can i connect master to VCCB side at 3.3V and Slave to VCCA side at 2.5V?

Suggest me a suitable translator for my application.

Hello Chethan,

You can simply connect the B side to the master which is the higher voltage. I2C is bidirectional communications and buffer/translator knows nothing of which side is the master. what is your application? Do you need the fast mode plus or are you planning on running it slower, like fast mode (400kHz)? If so, you have many more options for translators and buffers.

I don't really need Fast Mode plus, my system works at Fast mode, I will chose the part accordingly then.
