TS3USB3000: Can unused MHL port be floating and follow up questions

Part Number: TS3USB3000

Hi,

I would like to use this part as a switch to enable/disable the USB signals from a host processor to a output connector. Can the MHL lines be left floating if all that i am using is the OE feature?

Also, in the future if i wanted to connect a second host processor's USB signals to the MHL port so that i can switch between the output USB to two different host processors, is this possible? What is the difference between MHL signals and USB signals?

Thanks

  • "Can the MHL lines be left floating if all that i am using is the OE feature?" Yes
"in the future if i wanted to connect a second host processor's USB signals to the MHL port so that i can switch between the output USB to two different host processors, is this possible?" Yes that should be fine.
"What is the difference between MHL signals and USB signals?" MHL is TMDS which is a current mode signal while USB is a differential voltage signal.
