SN65LVDS22: Effects on back channel communication.

What effect, if any, does the SN65LVDS22 repeater have on back channel I2C communications between the SERDES?

    Hi Eric,

    Unfortunately, back-channel communication through the SN65LVDS22 is not supported by our repeater devices. The redriver is unable to distinguish between back-channel and forward channel data since there is no filtering at the driver output to preserve the back-channel information. Therefore, I expect the back-channel data to be lost once it reaches our SN65LVDS22. I recommend sending I2C through a separate channel if the SN65LVDS22 is to be used.
