TPS65983B: request TPS65983B configuration utility

Welcome to E2E! The TPS65983/B are only used for Thunderbolt 3 ecosystems by Intel. Are you building a Thunderbolt ecosystem? If you're not building a thunderbolt system, then the TPS65983/B is NOT recommended. I would recommend the TPS65981.

I plan on looking at the TPS65982 possibly for the next version, however I already have boards with the 65983B device placed. Using the TPS6598x Configuration utility Version 3.11 I do not seem to be able to get the expected operation that I am looking for. I would like to try and salvage the boards I do have for my testing and the configuration utility might be the answer.

Hi Chris,

Unfortunately, the 83/83B devices have FW that is used for Thunderbolt ecosystems only. I highly recommend moving to the TPS65981/2/6 devices for your current project. When ordering EVM boards, I recommend ordering the TPS65981 (same functionality as the TPS65982, but different package and pin count) because it comes with an FTDI board for easy flashing.

Thunderbolt functionality will be needed in the future hence going with TPS65983B initially.  What I am running into right now is being unable to specify a sink path depending on the contract that is negotiated.

If thunderbolt is needed in the future, is it for this same project? Are you building a host or device with Thunderbolt?
