DS100DF410: Does the equalization on this part accomplish EDC?

We need a SFI to XFI converter to go from a SFP+ 10G transceiver to an older Freescale processor with 10G XFI. The DS100 does not show a EDC block for dispersion correction. It does have what looks to be a great equalizer, but there is a dispersion correction requirement we are not sure is met by this equalizer. Has anyone had a successful experience with connecting this to a SFP+ transceiver to do SR or LR 10G Ethernet?

Hi Tom,

The DS100DF410 can be used for SR and LR applications, which do not necessarily have an EDC requirement since they are limiting modules.

However, if EDC is required to meet BER requirements and the module is a linear module (for example, with 10GBASE-LRM), then the DS100DF410 will not be able to support this.

Thanks Michael, we are using multimode OM3 cable, but it is less than a 200 Meter so I think we will try this solution. I will mark it resolved.
