We are planning to develop a single directional communication system. The first system will contains only Transmit & the second with Receive. We are planning to use, VCSEL type laser diode for the Tx side & PIN Photodiode. Both are working in 1.2GB/s speed. Please suggest us a solution for both Transmitter & receiver section ( like Laser driver, Power control, Pre-Post Amplifiers  for PIN Photodiode etc ).

    1. Which interface is used to connect the VCSEL driver ( ONET4291VA ) & Host Processor ( SerDes->LVDS,LVPECL )? ( DIN+ & DIN-)
    2. I hope the Trans-impedance amplifier is connected in between Post amplifier & PIN-Detector. Isn't it?
    3. Let me know the interface's can be used on the DOUT+ & DOUT- pin of Post Amplifier (ONET4251PA) to the Host Processor.

    Hi Sharvy,

    Please find my responses to your questions below:

    • Which interface is used to connect the VCSEL driver ( ONET4291VA ) & Host Processor ( SerDes->LVDS,LVPECL )? ( DIN+ & DIN-)

    Sri: The DIN+/- are Analog data input pins, which must be AC-coupled to the incoming data lines using 0.1μF caps. They are differentially terminated on-chip using a 100-Ω resistor;

    • I hope the Trans-impedance amplifier is connected in between Post amplifier & PIN-Detector. Isn't it?

    Sri: Yes, the TIA comes in bare die form and typically sits inside the ROSA immediately after the PIN-photodiode, while the post amplifier sits outside the ROSA. 

    • Let me know the interface's can be used on the DOUT+ & DOUT- pin of Post Amplifier (ONET4251PA) to the Host Processor.

    Sri: The DOUT+/- on the ONET4251PA are CML output pins, which must be AC-coupled as well.
