DP83867CS: STRAP Pins

Hi,
The DP83867CS will be used as SGMII interface.

Q1. Is there any additional benefit by the using Strap pins when MDIO and MDC are connected with uC for programming the PHY? Does it possible to proceed without using any strap pins?

Q2. Only one DP83867CS in the board, so if strap pins are not used then the PHY address will be 0x00 assigned by default. Do my understanding correct?

    Q1: it avoids programming thru software. In certain cases, you need fast wake-up, HW strapping help as you don't have to wait for uC to boot and program the Phy.

    Q2: That's correct. Refer to Straps table in datasheet for default values for each of them. If you don't add any straps, phy powers up with default values mentioned in datasheet.
