TPS65983: TDA 2.2.9 Fail in FW 4.45

Part Number: TPS65983

Hi all,

My customer is asked to test TDA 2.2.9 (BMC-PROT-GSC-REC) in their TPS65983A dock product in GRL. Our device can't pass that test because we don't response Hard reset after 30ms in reporting  SourceCap. They use TPS65983 FW 4.45 now. Please help to check the issue. Thanks.

It's the test log from GRL.

This's the failed description.

Best regards,

Gary Teng

  • Hi Gary,

The TPS65983 is only used in Thunderbolt designs. Typically TBT designs are only required to meet TBT compliance and not USB PD compliance. Can you please explain why you are seeking PD Compliance with a TBT design?

If this answers your question, PLEASE select  This resolved my issue

    Thank you,

    Eric

  • Hi Eric,

By my customer's feedback, TBT product need pass PD and USB test to get the certification and they did do that in last year. Please help to check the issue or let us know TBT don't need to pass PD test. BTW, I see there're same issue ( TDA 2.2.9) posted in E2E in mid 2017 in 983 and 986.  Is there any comment in your SW team ?

    Best regards,

    Gary

  • Hi Gary,

Which Intel reference design are you following?

    Thank you,
    Eric
  • Hi Eric,
Customer test "Apex Creek CH port B Charging 100w" at this time. And they have ever seen that issue in other projects by using different reference design.

  • Hi Gary,

Can you send me your .PJT file and also the Vendor Info File for your project?

    Thank you,
    Eric
  • Gary,

Can you also send me the .html test report file generated from the GRL tester?

    Thank you,
    Eric

  • Hi Eric,

Is there any update about this?  By customer's feedback, If they can't pass the GRL PD test item, they will not get intel's TBT logo and they can't ship out their product. Please help to comment about the issue ASAP. Thanks.

    Gary

  • Hi Gary,

We are looking into this failure internally. I will update you once I have an update from our FW team on this failure.

    Thank you,
    Eric
  • Hi Gary,

This is a FW bug in the 83 FW. This issue will be resolved with the next FW release. Currently, the FW version with the fix was sent to Intel and they are validating it. Once they have confirmed it, we will release it through the secure site.

If this answers your question, PLEASE select This resolved my issue

    Thank you,

    Eric
