TMDS361B: On the same channel, HDMI 1.4 impedance test pass but HDMI2.0 impedance test fail .

Hi,

        In  HDMI impedance test, at the same channel, HDMI 1.4 test pass, but HDMI 2.0 test fail.

        HDMI impedance how to test?

        the test method is different between HDMI 1.4 & HDMI 2.0 ?

       the impedance test need power on test or not?

    Hello Wu Yisyuan,

    The sink differential impedance tests for HDMI 1.4B and HDMI 2.0 are very similar, but the acceptable termination impedance range is lower for HDMI 2.0 (100 ohm rather than 115 ohm max). Per the spec, the sink can be on or off but we recommend that the sink be on and the switch is enabled for the test. The HDMI specification and test documents are only available to licensed users so we cannot post the MOI here.

    Hello Wu Yisyan,

    I have retested the sink impedance on this device and I see that the TDR with the TMDS361B is within the HDMI 1.4B / 2.0 parameters. Also, the TMDS361B datasheet indicates it is rated for HDMI 1.4B operation only.
