TPS65982: USB 2.0 port

Part Number: TPS65982

HI, Team:

For the TPS65982 unused USB2.0 port, it can be float or need pull down to the gound by resistor?

If the type C connector USB2.0 port must connect ot the TPS65982 USB2.0 MUX port, or it can be connect to USB HUB directly and bypass the TPS65982.

Thanks!

  • Hi Andrew,

    1. Unused USB2.0 port pins can be left floating.

    2. The USB2.0 connections must connect to the TPS65982 because of BC1.2 charging. The USB data passes through the device, but the TPS65982 responds to the BC1.2 primary and secondary detection sent out by the legacy device plugged in. If the USB lines bypass the TPS65982, then the BC1.2 charging mode will be defaulted to SDP mode, which has a current limit of 500mA, instead of the 1.5A that is capable with different BC1.2 modes such as DCP and CDP.
