TUSB1064: HPDIN Pin Configuration

Part Number: TUSB1064

Hi Team,

If the TUSB1064 is configured as always 2xUSB+2xDP (flip or no-flip), can we tie the HPDIN pin to always "H" so we can save a control signal? Any potential issue you can foresee?

Will the HPD also act as an interrupt signal from sink to source in the event of DP link failure so it can interrupt the DP source to re-train the link? Will this impact the configuring 1064 mux?

Thanks,
Mitchell

  • Mitchell,

Holding HPDIN high may not be a problem for you application. HDP can be used as a interrupt signal and, for example, help to put the TUSB1064 into a low power state. Keeping HPD high will most likely cause higher power usage by the TUB1064.

Also HPDIN while the device in I2C mode and GPIO mode have different effects( see Note in section 8.3.2 of datasheet). The source in your application may also need HPD for other reasons and I suggest you confirm if the source does not need HPD.
