DS15BR400: I think there is a mistake in TI's document

Hello,

I am going to use DS15BR400 as a LVDS buffer for my system. According to DS15BR400's data sheet (www.ti.com/.../ds15br400.pdf), the differential inputs and outputs are internally terminated with 100ohm resistors. But in the document (www.ti.com/.../snlu010.pdf), in page 7, 100ohm resistors are externally terminated for the inputs of DS15BR400. Why is that? Is this a mistake?

I have reported this to TI's document center. But I haven't received any reply yet since last week.

Hi Xiaolong,

Thanks for the question. Upon reviewing the documentation, it does appear confusing, and there is a need to clarify. You are correct that the DS15BR400 has internal input differential terminations so that an external 100-Ohm is not required. By default, the EVM does not come with these resistor populated. Instead, the EVM has pad options for these resistors to be populated in the event you rework the board and solder a DS15BR401 in place of the DS15BR400 later on.

The User's Manual you referenced appears to show resistors as input differential terminations external to the device, but these pads are not populated with resistors when the DS15BR400 is used.
