TUSB214: Low Noise USBhub

Part Number: TUSB214
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB212

Hello , we have a new project requiring some support from your team.

We would like to use a redriver (like the TUSB214) for a ultra low noise USB hub
1. If we use it before the USB hub IC (input) , does it make sense to use a common mode choke before the unit ?
2. When you say it has AC boost, does it remove any common mode noise from the signal ? Does it remove any noise from USB D lines..
3. On the DC boost...does it remove any noise from USB DC ?
Does it make sense to use one rediver on the input of USB 2.0 hub and one redriver on the output if we want to achieve ultralow noise on the USB ? (related to above questions)
Whats the difference between Tusb214 and Tusb212

Thank you for your support.

Regards,

Andre

  • The TUSB214 and TUSB212 boost the differential signal of the USB 2.0. They are intended to increase the signal strength of USB 2.0 to compensate for signal loss in long cables and PCBs.

    1. you can use a common mode choke before the TUSB214 if you want to filter out the Dc noise on the data lines.
    2. no our device does not remove any common mode noise from the data lines.
    3. the DC boost does not remove any DC noise.

You can put the TUSB214 on the input to the hub and the outputs of the hub, but you would have to worry about over equalization. The difference between the TUSB212 and the TUSB214 is that the TUSB214 supports Charging Downstream Port(CDP).
