DS80PCI102: Can DS80PCI102 used with PCIe Gen3 two lane application ?

Hi Team,

Customer is using DS80PCI102 for PCIe Gen3 two lane application. Can they use this device without communication problem ?

I think DS80PCI402 would be a better approach because they could use same device for the two lanes, instead of using two devices for each lane if using DS80PCI102.

I also understand that PCB design would be easier using DS80PCI402.

However, since they do not have registered the device in their company they cannot use DS80PCI402.

Could you advise us if DS80PCI102 could be used for Gen3 2/4 lane application ?

Hi Kawai,

It is fine to use 2x DS80PCI102 in a 2-lane or 4-lane application. If the customer ends up connecting configuration pins like "RATE" together from multiple devices the resistor values should be adjusted as follows.

2 device connections: 1K -> 500 ohms and 20K -> 10K

4 device connections 1K -> 250 ohms and 20K -> 5K
