DS80PCI810: DS80PCI810 Equalizer setting?

Part Number: DS80PCI810
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS80PCI102

DEARS.

DS80PCI810 product is under consideration.

We are reviewing the configuration below.

We need to extend the PCIe signal by about 400mm.

The data sheet of the DS80PCI102 has an Equalizer related setting method(Datasheet 13page, Table 2. Equalizer Settings)

I want to know how to set the Equalizer for the length in DS80PCI810.

What are the best settings?

Thank you

  • Hi Henry,

Table 2 page 13 settings are based on insertion loss or loss characteristics of the pcb material. Thus you can try every settings and use the setting that provides best eye opening (eye diagram with highest horizontal and vertical opening). If you don't have high speed scope to check eye opening, then you can use the setting that provides best bit error for your overall sytem.

  • Dear.

The DS80PCI810 should be applied to the point where the cable passes from the top, and the PCB pattern should be designed as 120mm.
I need a layout and Hardware Design Guide doc.

  • Hi Henry,

We have layout and design recommends for our IC and ingress/egress board traces in the DS80PCI810 datasheet, Section 10.

    Thanks,

    Michael
  • Hi Henry,

I would recommend using EQ Level 3 and VOD level 4 from the datasheet.  This combination should respond well to your channel setup and description.

In addition to the datasheet, the DS80PCI810 users manual has additional information.  From a schematic - layout perspective our top recommendations are.

    1. Use GND relief directly under the high speed IO's

    2. Use GND relief directly under the AC coupling cacacitors.

    3. Decouple the DS80PCI810 as directed in the datasheet

    4. Allow for EQ and VOD BOM options in the schematic.

    Regards,
