Hello E2E,

Our customer planning to stop using photo-relay.
I found the TID, PMP9522. www.tij.co.jp/.../PMP9522
Please let me know your opinion about if changenthe device from UCC2808 to SN650x on PMP9522.
Do you think that it will run? (I think that it will run.)

  • Hi ACGUY,

Thank you for using E2E Forum.
SN650x can be used as a photo-relay like UCC2808 is used in PMP9522. Since there are differences between UCC2808 & SN650x, you will be required to follow SNN650x recommended schematic from SN650x datasheet or EVM to make it work. One of the key differences is that UCC2808 has a totem-pole outputs where as SN650x has only open-drain outputs. Since the sinking current is also different for these devices, you may also notice a difference in turn ON/OFF times. Apart from these, it should work fine.

Let me know if you have any other questions, thank you.

  • Hi Koteshwar,

I think that if using SN650x that off-time is to be long. And, total cost is over then using photo-relay.
If we get chance, we do like to consultation.

    Thanks,
    ACGUY
