TPS65986: Absolute Maximum Rating for VDDIO

Guru 29720 points
Part Number: TPS65986

Hi Team,

1)
The datasheet shows Absolute Maximum Rating for VDDIO is up to "LDO_3V3 + 0.3".
So I believe VDDIO shouldn't be supplied until LDO_3V3 outputs (LDO_3V3 is enabled).
I assume VDDIO isn't tied to LDO_3V3 in this case.

Is my understanding correct?

2)
TPS65986EVM shows VDDIO is connected to VIN_3V3.
Is it no ploblem in terms of power-up sequence?

Best Regards,
Yaita / Japan disty

  • Hello Yaita,

    1) Based on the Datasheet, LDO_3V3 and VDDIO are tied together, and serve the same function. It is just a secondary input, which a user can control to see which one is used for I/O's. I cannot find anything that explains when one should be supplied over another and when they are disconnected from one another

    2) Based on what I have read, I do not see any potential problems in regards to power-up sequence.
