DS80PCI800: DS80PCI800 Configuration questions?

Dears.

Customer compares DS80PCI800 and DS80PCI801.

The customer is considering the following configuration.

Which of the following configurations is better for DS80PCI800 or DS80PCI801?

We need a solution for Repeater configuration.

On the EVM board, it is controlled by a switch.

Can I do all the control with EEPROM?

Is there any problem in operating with all control by software?

    Hi Henry,

    The best repeater for this application depends on how much attenuation is in the total channel. I am assuming there is additional channel on the other side of the 300mm cable. If the total attenuation is > 27-28 dB @ 4 GHz, then I would start with the DS80PCI800. Fortunately the the DS80PCI800 and PCI810 are completely pin-to-pin compatible so you can try both.

    All the control can be done with EEPROM or SMBus commands in software.
